As we celebrate the achievements of remarkable women leaders, it’s essential to acknowledge the barriers and obstacles that women leaders continue to face in their journey toward equity. From gender bias and discrimination to lack of representation and unequal opportunities, the road to gender parity is fraught with challenges.

Dr. Claire Zammit in her doctoral dissertation research on Feminine Power states that never have women’s level of unhappiness been higher, and collectively they are feeling a double bind- play leadership by the masculine rules or lose access to power.

In the face of these obstacles, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to lifting women as leaders and creating a more inclusive and equitable world for all.  This is a call to action, for all men and women that are in a position to champion women in their leadership roles and careers, to lift them up!

Here are some strategies to overcome these barriers and champion women’s leadership:

  • Amplify Voices: Create platforms and opportunities for women to share their stories, ideas, and experiences, amplifying their voices and ensuring their perspectives are heard and valued.
  • Mentorship & Sponsorship: Provide mentorship and sponsorship programs that pair women leaders with seasoned mentors who can offer guidance, support, and opportunities for advancement.
  • Advocate for Change: Advocate for policies and practices that promote gender equality and create a level playing field for women in leadership, both within your organization and in society at large.
  • Build Networks: Foster networks and communities like our Women’s Leadership Series that provide women with education, empowerment and connections to help them navigate challenges and access opportunities for growth and advancement.
  • Lead by Example: As leaders, lead by example by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in your organization, and actively working to dismantle barriers and create a more inclusive culture for all.

Together, by lifting women up as leaders and championing their voices and contributions, we can create a brighter and more equitable future for generations to come.
